Queen of Peace Monastery

The nuns at the Queen of Peace Monastery wanted a unique and peaceful film that showcased the daily life of prayer, study, and hard work while emphasizing their care for the environment.

A key challenge was sharing their story without interviews or voice-overs, preserving the silence that is central to their routine. To address this, we used subtle sound design to highlight specific moments and carefully edited the film to maintain silence without losing its essence.

Creating a timeless film posed another challenge. We chose clips without current logos or details that could date the film. Shana handled the entire process, from concept development to colour choices and final edits.

Before starting, she toured the Monastery and spoke with the prioress to shape the concept. The filming took place over three long days, and the necessary footage was captured at various times while respecting the nuns' privacy.

Shana and a team member also took photos for the website and recorded hymns for re-sale during the shoot.

The project took 2.5 months to complete from concept to the final edit.
